What that means is that means is, they go to a creditor like Capital One, Bank of America or Wells Fargo and they purchase a spreadsheet of Debt. The secret – What they’re doing, they’re just buying an Excel spreadsheet with names, phone numbers, address and the listed amount of accused Debt. They aren’t actually buying any of the paperwork that really verifies and validates this debt!

What I find is about 90% of the time when we really go in and challenge the debt collector and ask them to prove the validity of the debt. Or we request them to furnish the paperwork, they’re really not able to! You know what they’ll do if they’re not able to furnish the paperwork?
Deleting A Collection From Your Credit
They’ve got to remove the account from your Credit Report and stop contacting you forever. I never recommend that you just run out and go pay a debt collector before they validate that the debt is owned by them and they prove that they have the right to collect on that debt. Even if a debt collector tries to Sue You, a lot of the time, in court, if you have a good attorney, the Debt Collector won’t be able to show the right paperwork! They’re just accusing you without being able to show the proof. Since the Collectors buy this Debt at a significant discount, we’re talking Pennies on the dollar. They only need to collect on a few of the accounts on that spreadsheet to make their money back. Debt Collection Agencies are massive companies that make a ton of money, so don’t fall victim to one of these collector scams.
